Features of Metaseis

Metaseis has been built from the ground up to give our customers a service that adapts to their exact data needs. From uncovering issues in vintage formats to handling vast volumes of processed data, its flexible and customisable tools are designed to meet unique challenges and keep pace with evolving standards.

Developed in-house by Moveout, Metaseis has been refined over years of real-world use, enabling tailored remastering solutions and continuous improvements.

Java-based and platform-independent, it runs anywhere, anytime - futureproof without the need for porting.

Metaseis Demos

A collection of short demonstrations showcasing the core features and capabilities of Metaseis, from data visualisation and navigation QC to SEG-D and SEG-Y workflows. Watch the videos below via the linked YouTube demos.

Intro

Overview

Moveout Data’s proprietary seismic data tool, showcasing its ability to quickly analyse, visualise and edit SEG-D and SEG-Y files. Metaseis generates detailed reports and inspects headers to view 3D volumes and navigation data.

Nav

Navigation

A demonstration of Metaseis’ navigation QC capabilities, highlighting how users can visualise and analyse P190 navigation data. The video shows source, streamer and vessel positions, along with depth data, and how to easily navigate, scale and review entire seismic lines or individual shots.

SEG - D

Acquisition

An introduction to working with SEG-D field data in Metaseis, including displaying shot records, inspecting headers and generating reports. The video also covers file organisation, renaming, and converting legacy SEG-D data into newer formats or SEG-Y.

SEG - Y

Processing

A look at how Metaseis handles SEG-Y data, enabling users to view, edit and correct both pre-stack and post-stack files. It demonstrates interactive header editing, trace manipulation and common workflows such as updating coordinates and scaling values.

TRANSCRIBE

Metaseis is compatible with both vintage and modern Linux operating systems, enabling the connection of any tape drive regardless of cabling type - from SCSI to FC and SAS.

Read Any Tape As Tap File

In this mode Metaseis reads from tape to disk, irrespective of the data format... SEG-A, SEG-B, SEG-C, SEG-D, SEG-Y, ASCII, EBCDIC, LIS, LAS, Proprietary Formats etc.

The output is a tape image file that can subsequently be decoded into the appropriate format. Essential for reading 9-track tapes. Difficult and damaged tapes can be re-started and run from start to finish in one pass.

Read SEG-D

Automatically rename SEG-D files and sort to LINESEQ directories

Read SEG-Y

Read SEG-RODE

Read SEG-B

Read P1/90

Read P1/84

Read SPS

Write to SEG-D 2.1 or 3.0

Write to SEG-Y 1.0 or 2.1

ANALYSE

SEG-D Dump - General, Extended, External, Summary, Trace Headers

SEG-Y Dump - EBCDIC, Binary, Trace Headers

SEG-Y Show - Immediate view of first & last 30 trace headers of a file & EBCDIC

SEG-Y Diff - Create difference file between SEG-Y data

SEG-D, SEG-Y, P1 Reports - Trawl through multi directory libraries creating customisable reports

CONDITION

Automatically rename SEG-Y files using info from EBCDIC, Binary or Trace Headers
Edit SEG-Y EBCDIC and Binary Headers
Edit SEG-Y Trace Headers
Concatenate SEG-Y files
P1 file split - Split and rename individual P1 nav files from a single concatenated file
Crop SEG-Y files - By polygon, trace header values, time
TAR/ZIP SEG-D and NAV for UK NDR upload compliance

VISUALISE

P1 Navigation attributes for a whole survey e.g. Water Depth, Day Shot, Azimuth
Shot & Rec positions for a single P1 file, play as a movie to visualise feathering
Seismic 3D cubes and slices
Seismic 2D view arbitrary lines through 2D surveys to QC miss ties
Velocities
LMO nav-merge QC

NAV-MERGE PACK

Create P190 file from SEG-Y post-stack data
Create full P190 files from source positions & acquisition geometry
Nav-merge marine 2D field data
Nav-merge 2D post-stack data
Nav-merge marine 3D field data
Nav-merge OBS data
